Social Media Networking: Business, Academic and Social, Community and Fun

As a social media consultant, one of my recommendations to my clients for a good business networking site is Ecademy.com.

I divide my social media networks in 3 categories, you have: 1. the social media business networking sites 2. the social media academic and social networking sites and 3. the social media community and entertainment sites.

The social media business networking sites:

In my view, you should look into being present on LinkedIN.com and Ecademy.com. I put them in this specific order because I believe LinkedIN is the leader for business networking.

The social media academic and social networking sites:

Facebook.com is more of a closed community open to people all over the world to be a part of, and it’s academic as much as social. Another one is Twitter.com which is unique because of the 140 characters limit microblogging.

The social media community and entertainment sites:

YouTube.com is on the top of my list here, sharing videos with the world is one effective marketing strategy. MySpace.com and HI5.com are for entertaining.

In conclusion, although there are hundreds of socail media websites out there, these are the top ones I believe will bring you most exposure.
